GWPS – Extra Curriculum Program Guidelines

Junior Choir

Educational Intent:

The Junior Choir provides students with the opportunity to develop a range of musical skills beyond what is taught in the regular classroom program. Students develop their ability to sing in tune and in parts, as well as their ability to read musical notation. Students will learn basic vocal technique and improve their ability to work in a group of musicians and with a conductor. Through participation in the Junior Choir, students will be provided with a range of performance opportunities, such as at school assemblies and selected events in the wider community.

Age Group:

Students in Years 3 and 4 are able to join the Junior Choir.

Rehearsals:

Junior Choir is held every two weeks (fortnightly). It runs from 11:30am to 12:30pm on Tuesdays.

Cost:

There is no general cost for participation in the choir, but costs associated with excursions to performances or eisteddfods will be passed on to parents whose children attend.

Selection Criteria:

All Years 3 & 4 students are welcome to join the Junior Choir.
