Say “Hi!” to Glen the Roo!

Glen is our Glen Waverley Primary School mascot who represents the hardworking, energetic and friendly spirit of our school community. For students, he is a symbol of growth – just like a kangaroo that hops higher and further, Glen inspires students to push themselves and strive for excellence. He represents progress, resilience and the excitement of learning!
Glen the Roo was our winning mascot design during our mascot campaign which ran through Semester 1, 2025. Year 6 students in the English Innovation class formed teams and designed a mascot each that embodied the values of our school community. The students analysed the school’s Guiding Statement and website to better understand what the school stood for and created convincing profiles for their mascots to be shortlisted as one of the mascots eligible to campaign.
Through this initial process, four mascots were shortlisted with each mascot team moving on to create a rigorous promotional campaign to persuade the school community to vote for their mascot. This culminated in a school-wide mascot election day where every student and staff had a say in who should be the school mascot. As a result of this process, Glen the Roo was chosen!
But the Glen the Roo journey for the students did not end there! Now the winning team had an even more difficult audience to convince – the School Council. The students created a proposal for Glen the Roo to ask School Council to fund our school’s very own wearable mascot costume! After liaising with the costume company, creating a proposal and preparing a presentation, the team courageously delivered their pitch with the School Council. After almost 3 terms of persistence and diligence, the team were successful in creating Glen Waverley Primary School’s first ever official mascot!
