GWPS – Extra Curriculum Program Guidelines

Chinese Choir

Educational Intent:

Our Chinese choir was formed in 2013. It encourages every student in Year 1 to Year 6 to participate, regardless of gender, culture or skill level. It provides students with opportunities to develop a love of singing while building self-confidence and interpersonal skills. In the choir, students practice different styles of Chinese (classical and modern) pieces to explore and appreciate the cultural aspects of music. Everyone in the choir works collaboratively to achieve a common goal, feelings of enjoyment, happiness and also pride. They are also offered various opportunities to perform at school assembly and to our local community.

Age Group:

Students in Years 1 to Year 6 are encouraged to join in the Chinese Choir. Rehearsals are held at lunchtime on Fridays (1:40pm to 2:30pm).

Cost:

There is no cost to be included in the Chinese Choir. If the Choir was to perform at a venue that required travel costs, a letter would be sent home to advise families of the amount and for permission to be given by parents/guardians.

Selection Criteria:

The Chinese Choir is open to all interested students of varied vocal talents and abilities.   It is important to note that one does not have to be a “good singer”.
